Hupsekot Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardghat Sustapur) has gifted 56 girls bank accounts with 5000. This amount has been deposited in the bank accounts of 56 daughters born in the rural municipality in the current financial year through the program 'Our Daughter's Golden Future'.

Lakshmidevi Pandey, president of Hoopsekot Rural Municipality, said that after a couple who is a permanent resident of Hoopsekot Rural Municipality has a daughter and registers the birth at the ward office, the rural municipality will deposit the amount in cash in the bank account opened in the name of the daughter.

'Rs 280,000 have been withdrawn from the bank accounts of 56 daughters born till the end of March of the current financial year at the rate of Rs 5,000,' she said, 'We have also asked the parents to deposit at least Rs 5,000 in their daughter's bank accounts.'

President Pandey said that the program was conducted to develop the habit of saving the money deposited in the bank account in the name of the daughter with the expectation that it will be used during higher education studies. "In this way, the money deposited in the bank is expected to develop the habit of saving for the golden future of the daughter, as well as encourage her to be able to study and do other things," she said, "in a society that is not happy when a daughter is born, in addition to developing respect and independence for the daughter, the fetus  This campaign has also been started to prevent murder.' 

Hoopscot Rural Municipality has started this program from the fiscal year 2077/78. Hariprasad Parajuli, the chief administrative officer of the village, said that 312 girls have benefited through the program so far.  'In 2077/78, 59 in 2078/79, 97 in 2079/80 and 62 in 2080/81, money has been deposited in the bank accounts of girls,' she said. 

After the implementation of the program, Krishna Sapkota, head of the village health branch, said that positive habits have been developed such as giving birth at an appropriate age, visiting the health post regularly for pregnancy tests, giving birth at the hospital, registering the child's birth on time.
