After the death of a girl due to a leopard attack last Friday night in Bandipur Rural Municipality-2 Kamidanda of Tanahun, a goat cage has been kept for leopard control.
Division Forest Office Tanahun has placed a cage with goats in the forest of this area on Sunday. Ward President Tilak Bahadur Kunwar said that it was inevitable to control the leopard as the local residents were terrified after the leopard attack.
He said, 'After the attack of the leopard, the locals are terrified. Leopards have been seen several times in the villages around Kamidanda. We have appealed to be careful in the evening and at night.'
Ten-year-old Anuja Vick was killed by a leopard attack. While going to Phupudidi's house, Vick's body was found in the jungle after being attacked by a leopard. Division Forest Office Tanahun has asked everyone around the incident site to be vigilant and stay safe. The office has asked to light up the house in the evening and at night to avoid leopards and not to walk alone. Similarly, the office requests to make the house bright in the evening and at night, clean the bushes and take special care and care of children and the elderly to avoid leopards.
Children have been killed by leopard attacks in Tanahun for the past few years. There is terror of leopards in Bhanu, Bandipur, Ambukhareni. In the last six years, 14 children have lost their lives due to leopard attacks. Children have died in Bhanu Municipality, Shuklagandaki Municipality, Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality, Bandipur Rural Municipality due to leopard attack.
Wild animals such as deer, forest chickens are being hunted by humans, and because of the lack of prey in the forest, leopards have started hunting humans, according to the Division Forest Office Tanahun. Assistant Forest Officer Kashiraj Pandit said that the conflict between humans and wild animals is increasing due to clearing forests and establishing settlements, killing and eating wild animals. Pandit said, 'Since there is a problem with leopards especially in Tanahun, we have informed the consumers from time to time about the nature of leopards, the time when they can attack. This can be avoided if you understand the time and habits of leopards when they are active.'
