The Nepal Red Cross Kawasoti sub-branch of East Nawalparasi has operated a mortuary chamber (death body freezer) service. The sub-branch has purchased a mortuary chamber to hold two dead bodies and operated the service.

Baburam Kandel, president of the sub-branch, said that most of the young people are abroad and cannot come home immediately after the death of a relative.

"If there is a situation where burial cannot be done immediately after death due to religious and various reasons, it was found that the dead body rots and there is a problem in management," he said, "This service has been operated to solve the problem of the hospital taking it home and not having the equipment to keep the body when it is brought home."
