201 people have been diagnosed with tuberculosis in Nawalparasi in the last 6 months. They are taking medicine from DOTS centers at 61 different locations in the district.

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, this data was made public at the office held in Ramgram Municipality. The number of patients is also increasing every year as the number of patients is increasing every year after reaching the rural areas and examining suspicious people.

470 patients were found in 2079/80, 520 patients in 2080/81. Jan Mohammad Pathan, Public Health Officer of the District Health Office, said that with the target of identifying 800 patients in the current financial year, identification and testing of patients is underway.

In the current financial year, the most number of patients were found in Ramgram Municipality 43, Bardghat Municipality 42, Sunwal Municipality 33, Sarawal Rural Municipality 27, Palhinandan Rural Municipality 24, Pratappur Rural Municipality 15 and Susta Rural Municipality 15.

The Health Office has informed that some patients have died due to delaying the examination of the disease and not coming in contact with the health workers by not taking the medicine full time. In the interaction, the Deputy Head of Ramgram Municipality, Mejakan Chaudhary, said that if the disease is identified, there is an increase in hiding the disease due to the fear of rejection from the family and society, and special emphasis should be placed on public awareness.
