Two people were killed and seven others were injured in a jeep accident that took place in Bihadi Rural Municipality of the district on Wednesday morning.
According to the district police office, two people died on the spot when a jeep numbered Lu1J 4460, Bihadi-6 Lidi, which was going from Purtighat in Gulmi's Kaligandaki rural municipality to Walling in Syangja, met with an accident.
61-year-old Meenprasad Upadhyay of Bihadi-3 Ranipani and 64-year-old Dilkumari Bhattachan of Gulmi's Kaligandaki rural municipality-4 Purtighat died on the spot, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Raveen Bisht, who was at the scene.
According to him, six people who were injured in the accident have been taken to Palpa for treatment, while one child is being treated at the local health post due to minor injuries.
The police said that the jeep accident occurred due to brake failure on the uphill road. Stating that the identity of the injured has not been revealed, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bista informed that the incident is being further investigated.
