We will build a burns treatment hospital in Pokhara within a year: Acharya, head of the metropolis

Dhanraj Acharya, head of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, has promised to build a facility-equipped burn unit or hospital in Pokhara within one year.

Mayor Acharya said in a conversation with journalist Tikaram Yatri at the 'Agni Jalanma Malam' session of the Ncell Foundation Nepal Literature Festival that the city has an international airport, so it must be built. "I told Dr. Saab in a state of pain that a burn unit with facilities will be built in Pokhara within a year," he said, "Can, the Nepal government should also support it." It is my commitment that a facility-equipped unit or a hospital should be built in a mandatory manner, as this also falls under the international protocol where there are at least three airports.'

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and Mayor Acharya were injured when a balloon burst while inaugurating Pokhara Tourism Year on February 3.

Mayor Acharya said that it is necessary to make the western regional hospital where burns are treated in Pokhara equipped with resources. Mayor Acharya said that the government's plan to bring services like Kirtipur Hospital to the state headquarters needs to be successful. Mayor Acharya said that it is necessary to teach burn awareness and first aid right from school. He promised to take initiatives with the Curriculum Development Center to include the subject of burning in school level textbooks.

Kirtipur Hospital Plastic Surgeon Department Director Dr. Kiran Nakarmi said that 70 percent of cases of burns in Nepal happen inside the home. He said that if there are 90 centers across the country, first aid for burns can be done within two hours of the incident. As soon as the burn occurs, treatment can be done at the health post, district hospital. If there are 90 centers across the country, you can get first aid in 2 hours," said Dr. Nakarmi added, "After that, 20 percent of burn cases can be treated in the provincial hospital and if it is more than that, it can be taken to the center." He said that there are currently 35 beds for burn treatment in Kirtipur Hospital and there is a plan to build a 70-bed Nepal Burn Treatment Center within two years.  Dr. saying that you should not panic after the

incident. Nakarmi suggested some first aid measures. "You should not panic and run away after a fire. You have to fall on the ground. You have to fight. You have to remove your clothes and jewelry,'' he added. Water should be poured on the burnt area. It does not make the wound deeper. But, that thing is not too much.'

Anti-burning activist Ujwalvikram Thapa explained that 70 thousand Nepalis have to go through an inhuman massacre every year. He asked Thapa to be aware that accidents can happen at any time. How painful it is when a person burns is the same for every person. They burn with one mistake. Don't be under the illusion that I don't have it. Because it can happen to anyone at any time, it is called an accident and not a disease," said Thapa.

He asked the businessmen to insure the workers who come close to the fire. Abhiyanta Thapa suggested not to use mobile phones at petrol pumps, not to use flammable objects on birthdays, not to be busy on social media while in the kitchen, not to leave the heater on in the room.
