There has been heavy snowfall again in North Gorkha. Neema Lama, a local resident, informed that since last night, it has been snowing heavily this winter.

"After a long drought, it has snowed for the second time since last night," he said.

Lama says that snow has fallen from village Samdo down to Samgaon and Syala in the northernmost part of North Gorkha, known as Nubri Valley. It has been snowing continuously since 12 midnight. In Samdo, there is snow up to about a foot above the ground. It is snowing down to the bottom.

Due to the heavy snowfall, the lives of the locals in Nubri Valley, Samagaon and Syala areas have been affected. Lama said that there are also problems with telephone and internet services.

'Solar-powered telephone and internet are coming and going,' he said, 'It seems that all services will be affected until the snow stops.' Guide Surya Khanal informed that due to the snowfall, local and foreign tourists who reached the area on Saturday evening were also in trouble.

'It is not possible to take tourists to Larkepass,' he said, 'We are taking shelter in Samdo's hotel along with tourists.'

After a long time since the snowfall, the local residents have fallen. Although the snow will affect life, the local people are happy because the food crops will be good. The local farmers of Syala area have already planted sugarcane but it did not grow, so they are happy that with this snowfall, the sugarcane cultivation will be good.

Similarly, since farming will start in Samgaon and Samdo after a month, the land will be loosened by the snow and it will be easy to cultivate, Lama said. In Samagaon and Samdo, karu, barley, potato, phapar and charu are cultivated. Locals say that only the weather is changing towards Chumvalley and the situation is normal.
