15 thousand eight hundred and 38 national identity cards have been kept at the district administration office Baglung after the service users did not come to collect the identity card. Ramprasad Upadhyay, head of the administration branch of the office, informed that most of the people who filled the form of national identity card had gone abroad and did not come to collect the identity card.
According to Chief Upadhyay, up to 200 customers come for new ID cards every day, but only a few come to get the ID cards that are ready. As only 20 to 50 customers come to get their identity cards daily, there is a pile up.
Currently, the collection of details for national identity cards is being done at the ward level. Branch Officer Upadhyay said that 28,885 national identity cards have been prepared so far in the district administration. Out of them, only 13 thousand 47 identity cards have been taken away by the service users, while 15 thousand eight hundred and 38 identity cards are still in the administration, he informed.
The number of identity card distribution is low because the person has to come and do the biometric again to get the identity card. The district administration office of Baglung is preparing to camp in Galkot municipality for the distribution of identity cards. It is said that there was a problem in storage when the identity card was issued.
After the Supreme Court's decision to quash the writ against the National Identity Card, the National Identity Card has now become mandatory for every job assigned by the government. The National Identity Card, which can be used as a digital card of international standards to eliminate the shortcomings of the Nepali citizenship certificate and strengthen the country's security system, includes the identity of the bearer's 10 fingerprints. It will be printed on a card with a
chip and will contain personal and biological details. Since all details of citizens will be included in one digital card, there will be no hassle of carrying materials such as citizenship, license, voter ID card with photo and land owner parts.
The national identity card also includes details of personal events registered from birth to death. According to the National Identity Card and Registration Department, the National Identity Card of any person will be taken to the online system from birth and managed.
