Local residents are disappointed after the bridge was not built over the Trishuli river connecting Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun and Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan even after eleven years.

As the construction of the bridge was supposed to be completed, the local residents of this area are disappointed after the bridge has been left standing until now. A few days ago, the local residents surrounded the administration and road division office, demanding the immediate start of the bridge construction work.

After the delay in the construction of the bridge, which was started eleven years ago, a concern committee has been formed to exert pressure. The gathering of consumers of Bandipur, Devghat and Ambukhareni has formed a rotating bridge concern and struggle committee under the coordination of Siddhant Thapa.

Devghat Rural Municipality-2, 3 and 4, Bandipur Rural Municipality-6, Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality-5 and 6 and Beas Municipality-13 and 14 residents of Byas Municipality-13 and 14 daily walk because the bridge is not completed, coordinator Thapa said.

Bhim Bahadur Rana, Chairman of Devghat Area Development Committee, said that the delay in the construction of the bridge has caused problems for the public in this area. Chunaram Gurung, former ward president of Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality-6, said that the relevant bodies should understand the suffering of the people of this area and start working.

Rajiv Shrestha, Head of Road Division Office, Damauli, informed that due to floods that occurred twice in this financial year, there was a problem in the construction of the bridge. He said that some changes had to be made in the design of the bridge and the work was delayed due to the ongoing work.

For the first time in June 2070, an agreement was entered into for the construction of the bridge with the deceased Sanjeevani Construction Company, Hetauda. Even after repeated extensions and design changes, only 45 percent of the work has been completed so far. The construction period of the said bridge is till next March.

After the agreement to build a steel truss bridge over the Trishuli River, the design has been changed and an arch bridge is going to be built. So far, only the pillars of Waripari of Trishuli have stood. The bridge will be 150 meters long and 11 meters wide including the footpath. The cost of the bridge is 9.56 million rupees.

After the completion of the construction of the motorable bridge of Buddhasinghmarg, the shortest distance connecting Gandaki province to Narayangadh in Chitwan, the distance will be 23 km shorter than the Mugling-Narayangadh road that is currently operating through Pokhara and Damauli to Narayangadh.
