Preparations have been made to declare Myagdi as a bright district. According to the Office of Drinking Water, Water Resources and Irrigation Division, Myagdi is going to be declared a bright district where more than 95 percent of households have access to electricity.
Senior Divisional Engineer Jhalakmohan Ojha, head of the office, said that the process of declaring Gandaki as a bright district as per the standards of the provincial government has reached its final stage as all households have access to central lines, small hydroelectricity and solar energy.
'During the report of the national census and the survey conducted by the office, it seems that some kind of electricity facility has reached all the houses in Myagdi,' he said, 'We are going to declare the bright district after confirming the data through the local level.'
Head of the office Ojha said that the state government will provide 75 percent subsidy for solar energy connection if there are any houses without central line and small hydropower project.
According to the results of National Census-2078, out of 28,830 households in Myagdi, 95.1 percent use electricity, 3.4 percent solar, 0.5 percent kerosene, 0.4 percent biogas, and 0.9 percent use other means for lighting. They use .
During the census, 120 houses in Marang, Simkos, Arche, Warwang, Naura, Jurukosh and Chhahri of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality and 100 houses of Jem in Malika Rural Municipality were installed with solar energy from the budget of the state government. Electricity from the central transmission line has reached most of these settlements.
