The construction of 'Switchyard' of Rahughat Hydroelectric Project of 40 MW capacity under construction in Myagdi by Raghuganga Hydropower, a subsidiary of Nepal Electricity Authority, has started.

The foundation has been started for the construction of the switchyard in the power plant complex located in Raghuganga rural municipality-3 Tilkenichaur. The equipment in the switchyard receives the energy produced by the generator in the power house and supplies it to the transmission line . Ravin Kattel, Chief of Civil Division of Rahughat Hydropower Project, informed that AIS (Air Insulated) technology switchyard is going to be constructed.

'Civil contractor Jaiprakash Associates (JP) has accelerated the work of preparing the foundation of the switchyard and hydromechanical contractor Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has prepared and started importing the connecting equipment,' he said. We have speeded up the construction with an action plan to complete it.'

The electricity generated from Rahughat is going to be connected to the central grid through the Kaligandaki Corridor Dana-Kushma transmission line (double circuit) with a capacity of 220 KV using Lilo (loop in, loop out) technology. Four transmission line towers have been constructed.

The construction of a 128-meter long tailrace dog to mix the water coming out of the power plant into Kaligandaki has been completed . 90 percent of the construction of the power plant has made physical progress. The work of connecting turbine and generator parts has been started. The managing director of Raghuganga Hydropower, Ganesh KC, said that the physical progress of the project since the land acquisition is 77.16 percent.

'The construction of barrage, 6,270 meter long main tunnel, surge shaft, vertical and third pressure shaft and tailrace dog has been completed,' he said, 'descender (water cooling pond), power intake, finishing the main tunnel And the work of penstock pipeline connection is going on in full swing.'

About 2,300 meters of lining (slope and plaster) has been completed from four audits of the main tunnel. A 17 meter high and 31 meter long semi-reservoir (PROR) dam is under construction on the border of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4 Dagnam and Ward No. 5 Jhinko and a power plant at Tilkenichaur. A contract agreement was signed with the civil contractor of the

project in the month of November 2074. During the 45-month period of the contract, 30 months have been extended as the work could not be completed due to the corona epidemic, floods and landslides.

In 2072, due to weak economic conditions, the contract with the old contractor IVRCL was broken and the construction of Rahughat hydropower project was started in the company's concept and engineering procurement and contract (EPC) format. According to the first schedule and agreement, the project was supposed to be completed in 2070. Initially designed at 32 MW, it was later increased by eight MW to 40 MW.
