On the day of Vijayadashami and Dasain, free buses have been operated on seven different routes in Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki province.
As in previous years, the District Administration Office and Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality in collaboration with the Transport Committee have run free buses to end the hardship of the citizens due to lack of transportation facilities on Tika Day.
Chief District Officer of Kaski Bharatmani Pandey informed that 18 buses of four companies will provide free service on seven routes of Pokhara. Those buses will operate till 4:00 pm on Saturday.
Kotre-Prithwichok-Chipledhunga to Baglung bus park, Fedi-Hemja-Harichok to Prithvichok, Lamachaur-Bagar-Mahendrapul-Chipledhunga-Srujnachok-Virauta to Chorepatan, Mahendragufa-Bagar-Mahendrapul-Chipledhunga-Srujnachok-Virauta to Chorepatan, Bagar Mahendrapul – Buses will be operated from Prithvi Chowk-Virauta-Sahid Chowk to Lakeside.
Similarly, free bus services will be operated from Lekhnath people's Chautara-Rupatal-Satmuhane-Khudi-Talchok-Prithvichok to Baglung Bus Park, through Kahunkhola-Mahendrapul-Prithvichok-zero km to Lakeside's Hallanchok and Begnastal-Talchok-Prithvichok-Chipledhunga to Baglung Bus Park. Dhanraj Acharya, head of the metropolis, said that the Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality will provide additional facilities to the drivers and co-drivers of the free service buses.
Acharya said, 'It is customary to go to dignitaries to pray for tika and blessings of Dasain. Therefore, in view of the fact that public transport may not be readily available on Dasain, the local administration and Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality have jointly arranged a free bus service in collaboration with various transport operators who are providing transport services in the metropolitan area. In case of any kind of problem during Dasain, the Chief Acharya requested to contact the toll free number 1181 (hotline) service of the Metropolitan Municipality.
Kedar Poudel, coordinator of the National Federation of Transport Professionals, Gandaki Province, said that they cooperated to operate the free bus service by paying attention to the comfort of the passengers. We are ready to serve the people and help the state when needed. As part of that, we have operated free buses,' he said.
