The Beni-Darbang road has been blocked due to a landslide that fell from the road on Friday evening in the Lampata Ranbang area of the Beni-Darbang road section, which is considered the lifeline of West Myagdi.

Vehicles and passengers have been forced to suffer because the landslides have not stopped . The patient has been carried across the landslide, while the passengers have crossed the landslide and headed towards their destination.

The Beni-Darbang road section, which connects the three municipalities of West Baglung with the three municipalities of West Baglung, has been blocked since Friday evening. In this section of the road, the road is blocked many times due to landslides in the area of Beni Municipality-4 Singa Tatopani, Bangevir of Malika Rural Municipality-6 and Lampata to Ranbang of Mangala Rural Municipality-2.

Although this road section is considered as the 'lifeline' of Myagdi, the major problem here is landslides. Teknath Subedi, a local, said that a new landslide has started in the Lampata Ranbang area on that road section, which is still suffering from the old landslide from the hole in Faparkhet.

Due to the landslide, the vehicles going from Beni to Darbang and the vehicles going from Darbang to Beni are stopped on the road. Passengers are going to their destinations on foot taking risks. About 18 years ago, before the opening of the road, there was a risk of landslides. Locals say that due to lack of long-term plan for landslide prevention, direct transport services are affected in this section during winter.

Harikrishna Paudel in Ranbang said that the road connecting Dhawalagiri, Malika and Mangla Rural Municipality to the district headquarter Beni Bazar is becoming more dangerous during winter. He said that since there is a necessity to travel through the landslide on the narrow road where the stones keep falling, now it is not possible to cross the new landslide, so the passengers have to use a detour to reach their destination on foot.

'After the rains, when the Geiger flowing from Pakho piles up on the road, the traffic is stopped,' he said, 'Faparkhet landslide has become like a cancer of Beni-Darbang road.' According to him, vehicles are damaged and passengers are injured due to the stones falling from the landslide.
