India has opened all 36 gates of the Gandak Barrage after the flood level in the Gandak Barrage in Triveni approached the danger limit.
Due to the water level in Gandak reaching more than 260,000 cusec liters, 2 canals leading to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in India have opened all doors to reduce the risk that may occur in India.
According to Sai Mahesh Rayamazhi of Triveni police station, the gate was opened because the water level was nearing the dangerous limit. It also helps to reduce the pollution in Triveni area.
After three days of continuous rains, the river level in Gandak suddenly increased, India has opened the door for its security. According to Rayamazhi, the water level in Gandak is continuously increasing.
By building a dam in Triveni on the border of Nepal and India, since about 60 years ago, India has diverted water to 2.5 lakh hectares of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. India has a monopoly on water control at the Gandak barrage on the border.
Even though there is a risk of land flooding towards Nepal, after informing India, India opens the door and ensures the flow of water in the river.
