The road division demolished the retaining wall after it was found that poor quality work was done on the Rampur-Mityal-Jalukeghat Arunkhola road in Nisdi Rural Municipality of Palpa during the Asare development.

After working haphazardly in a place where the builders were not given a line to work, the Anuman team led by Engineer Pratap Mak of the Road Division Office demolished it. "A retaining wall was installed randomly without working with the road division," he said.

In the past few days, after seeing that the local residents were working by mixing sand and soil, they appealed to the rural municipality and the road division, demanding action. Engineer Mak of the road division said that it was confirmed that there was substandard work on the Rampur-Mityal-Jalukeghat Arunkhola road. According to him, the 10 meter retaining wall installed against the standards has been demolished. The contract was signed here four years ago. 

The locals of Nisdi have accused the lack of quality in the contracted work due to the negligence of the engineer and sub-engineer of the road division office Palpa. They allege that the road division has created a situation where construction workers have been holding contracts for years and not working. Locals have accused the division of protecting builders who do substandard work despite their work. "A contract was signed years ago but the work could not be done according to it," said local leader Meen Bahadur Somai, "which has become an obstacle to the development of Nisdi." 

He said that the young people complained to the rural municipality and the road division after negligence during the construction of gavin wall, drain construction, retaining wall and gravel work at various places in Mityal under the contract awarded by the road division. Although the contract was awarded four years ago, the work was supposed to be completed in two years. But the work is not finished yet. 

It was found that the proportions of sand, stone, gravel and cement were not adjusted on the road under construction and there was no working line on the road. It has been found that red soil was used instead of sand. Through Amrit Construction Palpa, the contract was signed on February 2, 2078 and completed on June 25, 2079. But so far only 21 percent of the work has been completed according to the road division. 

The local level has also shown interest after the recent negligence at work. The interest of the concerned agencies in the contract in Nisdi, 70 km away from the headquarters, is low. No one was interested even when the builders did not work for years. Tirankumari Shrestha, vice president of Nisdi village, said that even if the federal and state governments work, their interest will remain. "For many years, contracts have been awarded but no work has been done," she said.

Road Division Palpa has awarded two contracts on Rampur-Mityal-Jalukeghat Arunkhola road. The builders of both the contracts did not work on time. Subedi construction services under Nisdi Rural Municipality under the road, Bhimad Tanahun, with an estimated cost of 1 crore 93 lakh 21 thousand, has not completed the contract for 1 crore 4 lakh 47 thousand. The builder who signed the contract on June 6, 2078 should complete it on June 25, 2080.
