A corruption case has been filed against Rampukar Sah, the suspended mayor of Kalyanpur Municipality in Siraha, who changed his statement in court in the case of being caught red-handed with a bribe of Rs 100,000. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a corruption case against Jashoda Kumari on Friday.
Mayor Sah was arrested by the Authority from his office on Asad 32 while he was taking a bribe of one lakh rupees from the Consumers Committee of the drain built at a budget of two million rupees in Bhokraha, Kalyanpur Municipality-6. Jasodha is the chairperson of the Consumers Committee.
Jasodha and local Kusheshwar Sah, who had been given the responsibility of working on the decision by the Consumers Committee, had jointly filed a complaint with the Authority. However, although Kusheshwar remained adamant, Jasheshwar changed her statement during the deposition in the Special Court on Kartik 5, saying that she did not know anything.
The Authority has also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on her and has mentioned in the charge sheet that she should be punished with imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees as per the instructions of Sub-section (3) of Section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 as per the following (b) of Sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the same Act.
The Authority had filed a case against the suspended Mayor Sah in the Special Court on Shrawan 23 regarding corruption by accepting bribes. The Commission has demanded a fine of Rs 100,000 and imprisonment under sub-section (b) of section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS for the offence under sub-section (1) of section 3.
