Due to the compensation dispute, 52 land owners of the 3.5 km road section under the Matiarwa-Kalaiya-Manmat road section in Kalaiya Sub-Governorship have not yet received the compensation. About 22 km long road section constructed with the help of India 2 years ago, about 3.5 km road section from Barewa to Bhawanipur in Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city has not been constructed due to compensation dispute.

The contractor Saptakoshi Jaladhar/Omsai & Company has not been able to work after the owner of the land in the road connecting the East-West Mahendra Highway from the border of India filed a lawsuit saying that the compensation amount was small.

According to Sanjay Kumar Thakur, Information Officer of Birgunj, Postal Highway Directorate Planning Office, the contractor company could not complete the work on time because the locals did not understand the compensation. Currently, the contractor company is in the process of extension of the contract period and they are also in contact, so there is no problem on the part of the contractor to start the work.

However, since 52 landowners are yet to receive compensation, the contractor company is having trouble starting work. Thakur said that 413 out of 465 land owners including schools, monasteries, temples, libraries and personal houses on this road section have received 1 billion 268 million 32 thousand 397 rupees compensation so far. But 52 land owners have not yet received the compensation of Rs 2 crore 55 lakh 49 thousand 300.

The residents of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan have been holding a struggle program as a form of pressure to complete the road, saying that there is a problem with the movement of dust on the left incomplete road section. Kardam Shrestha, a resident of Kalaiya Devkotachok, said that since the construction of some parts of this road section has not been completed, the people living on the side of the road are suffering from dust.

"We are suffering a lot," he said.
