70 people who were affected by floods and drowning after last night's heavy rains have been rescued from three districts of Kathmandu Valley. According to the information provided by the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, one person died after being swept away by the river in the valley.

Spokesperson of the office, Senior Superintendent of Police Dineshraj Mainali said that 18 people including 10 men, 6 women and two children were rescued in Kathmandu and 24 people including 13 men, 8 women and three children were rescued in Lalitpur. 

Similarly, Mainali informed that 28 people including 13 men, 11 women and four children were rescued in Bhaktapur. According to her, one person died after being swept away by the flood in Kathmandu. The body of 45-year-old Ramswarup Mahato of Banke, who was living in Sukumbasi village of Kathmandu, was found stuck under the balkhu bridge in the morning. 

Police have also rescued more than seven hundred livestock and chickens from all the three districts of the valley. Last night's heavy rain also increased the flow in all the streams and rivers flowing through the valley and many areas along the river banks were inundated.
