Only 4 months after the extended period, traffic is a problem if the road is not built on time
The eight and a half kilometer road construction work from Saptari's Rajviraj to Topa, Hanumannagar to Bhardah has stalled. The construction of the road has been stalled because the contractor company could not speed up the construction on various pretexts. As the road is not built on time, there has been a problem in traffic.
Due to mud during rains and dust during dry seasons, roadside markets and residents of slums are facing problems. According to the tender made by Road Division Office Lahan, Sah Engineering Construction Pvt. Ltd. Shambhunath Saptari accepted the contract for Rs. Although the construction of the road, which was supposed to be completed by June 2081, started, the work could not take off. The office extended the contract for another year.
The then head of Federal Supervision and Monitoring Office Sunsari under the road department, Rabindralal Das, extended the contract until June 2082.
Currently, under the Rajviraj-Hanumannagar-Bhardah section, work has to be done up to eight and a half kilometers from the Jalhi canal bridge. He said that a new tender was issued after this road connecting Mahendra Highway from Bhardah to Rajviraj was damaged. Engineer Yadav said that this time, the old damaged road with road side walls, concrete drains, small culverts should be uprooted and new blacked.
Even after the deadline extension, the contractor has not accelerated the work. According to Engineer Yadav, the physical progress of this road is only 15%. He said that the financial progress is 14.9 percent. Even in the extended deadline, the contractor company, which did not show due diligence in the work, left the road and drains in abeyance, causing problems in the neighborhood. With almost 4 and a half months left for the extended period, only 15 percent of the work has been done, which has highlighted the slow pace of road construction. Since
, the contractor has claimed that they are working. Sanjeev Sah of Sah Engineering Construction Pvt. Ltd. Shambhunath Saptari alleges that there is a problem because the road office does not give payment even though they have worked. But Ashutosh Karna, head of Road Division Office Lahan, responded that the contractor Sah had lied.
"The payment of the bill is not yet due, the contractor has not shown attention to work even in the extended period," Karan said, "Now we will proceed with the action process."
