After the Passport Department implemented the new passport system, complaints have increased in various districts of the country, including the inability to submit passport applications (forms). However, the District Administration Office has stated that the service is now operating smoothly in Ramechhap.
According to Chudamani Aryal, Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office, Ramechhap, although some technical problems were encountered in the initial phase of the implementation of the new system, the passport service has returned to normal since last Monday.
'There were problems for a few days after the implementation of the new passport system,' he said, 'Earlier, the system of the same vendor was in use for about 12-14 years. Now the security system (security feature) has been further strengthened. The initial problems were due to the integration of details with the national identity card, verification of biometric and non-biometric details, and upgrading of the passport's security system. There has been no such problem since last Monday.'
In preparation for the implementation of the new system of the Passport Department, the District Administration Office, Ramechhap, had suspended the passport service from Ashad 24 to 26 for system upgrading. According to Administrative Officer Aryal, currently, 20 to 40 service recipients come to the District Administration Office daily to get their passports made. He said that with the new system fully operational, the passport service is flowing regularly and smoothly.
Service recipient Milan BK of Umakunda Rural Municipality-1 said that although there has been a slight delay in the service flow after the implementation of the new passport system, there has been no major problem. According to him, although it has been experienced that passport making takes a little longer than before, there have been no problems such as applications not being submitted or the service being completely disrupted in Ramechhap.
'Since the new passport system has just been implemented, it is natural to have some technical problems in the initial phase,' he said, 'But there has been no problem where applications cannot be registered here. Although it took some time, the service was received smoothly.'
