With the aim of improving educational quality and creating an environment of healthy competition between schools and teachers, Umakunda Rural Municipality in Ramechhap has launched a program to honor the best schools and teachers with cash prizes.
The rural municipality stated that schools and teachers were evaluated based on set criteria, and the best educational institutions and teachers were selected. According to Chief Administrative Officer Ngawa Sherpa, the names of the best schools and teachers were made public following the meeting of the rural municipality-level selection committee on Asar 19 and the decision of the rural executive on Asar 20.
In the best school category, Shree Kaileshwar Secondary School, located in Gupteshwar, Umakunda Rural Municipality–6, secured first place. The school will receive a cash prize of 200,000 rupees. Similarly, Shree Chandeshwari Secondary School in Preeti, Umakunda–4, came second and will receive 100,000 rupees, while Shree Janata Secondary School in Kubhunkasthali, Umakunda–3, was selected for third place and will receive a cash prize of 50,000 rupees.
Likewise, the rural municipality has decided to honor five teachers and principals with outstanding performance, each with a cash prize of 10,000 rupees. The teachers and principals to be awarded are Kumar Thapa of Shree Janajagriti Basic School; Jagdish Basnet and Irak Angdembe of Shree Siddheshwar Secondary School, Bamti; Praveena Sunuwar of Shree Janata Secondary School, Kubhunkasthali; and Indira Acharya of Shree Chandeshwari Secondary School, Preeti.
Chief Administrative Officer Sherpa stated that the program was launched to encourage schools and teachers who perform excellently in the education sector, to promote the development of quality education, increase educational achievement, and foster positive competition among schools.
