The jetboat of Tamakoshi Marine Adventure Pvt. Ltd. was swept away by the rising water level in the Tamakoshi River in Manthali, the headquarters of Ramechhap, on Friday morning. The jetboat, which was tied up on the river bank, was swept away with the flood at around 5 am.
According to Sagarhari Adhikari, the company's operator, the jetboat was found submerged in the river below Rajgaun in Khandadevi Rural Municipality-4 during the search. He said that preparations are being made to mobilize a rescue team including divers to retrieve the jetboat.
'The jetboat, which was tied up, was swept away when the river flow increased suddenly in the morning. During the search, it was found submerged in the river below Rajgaun. A team including divers is currently arriving,' the official said.
According to him, more than 6 million rupees were invested in the jetboat. He informed that the exact details about the damage caused to the jetboat due to the flood, the impact of the river flow, and the technical condition will be known only after the rescue work is completed.
According to locals, a jetboat was seen drifting away after the river suddenly increased in flow on Friday morning. Some locals have captured the scene on video and posted it on social media.
Tamakoshi Marine Adventure Pvt. Ltd. had been operating a tourist jetboat service on the Tamakoshi River for a year. The company had also started a rafting service along with jetboats in 2083.
