The first district convention of the National Independent Party (NISP) Ramechhap has finally unanimously given continuity to the old ad hoc committee amid the tug-of-war over leadership selection.
The convention held at Tinlal Park in the district headquarters Manthali on Saturday decided to continue the ad hoc committee that was working before after long discussions and efforts to reach a consensus. Although there was speculation that it would take time to reach a consensus as there were some aspirants for the leadership, the old leadership was finally given continuity by maintaining organizational unity.
According to the new working committee, Ramesh Kumar Rayamajhi has been elected as the president, Mohan Karki as the vice-president, Dil Bahadur Thapa (Dinesh) as the secretary, Tek Bahadur Sunuwar as the joint secretary and Samiksha Shrestha as the treasurer.
Arjun Shrestha, Laxman Basnet, Kamal Karki, Ishwori Lamichhane, Keshav Rokka and Chandra Khadka have been elected as the members. Chandra Khadka has been nominated to replace Ramesh Kumar Khadka, former district member of Manthali Municipality-14, who is currently in Denmark, informed Vice President Mohan Karki. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Ramechhap has claimed that around 7,000 members are affiliated with the party across the district.
