The work of installing conch-shaped taps at the historical religious site Shankhamul in Thaha Municipality, Makawanpur is in full swing. The work of installing 108 conch-shaped taps at Moksha Dham in Shankhamul, located at the junction of Thaha Municipality 2 and 3, began on Friday.

According to Gupta Karki, the chairman of Shankhamul Moksha Dham in Thaha Municipality, donors have been asked to help install the conch. “We have collected Rs 40 from donors to install one conch,” he said. He said that 108 donors have already provided the money to install the conch. Chairman Karki said that arrangements have been made to write the name of the donor of each conch on the spot.

A budget of Rs 3 million has been allocated for the current fiscal year for Moksha Dham, which is a proud project of Thaha Municipality. Thaha Municipality Mayor Bishnu Bista said that additional funds will be provided if necessary. Arrangements have been made to bring water from the Khaite River to provide water 24 hours a day from the 108 conch-shaped taps installed at the location. Chairman Karki said that construction work has also begun to place a large conch in Mokshadham.

After constructing 108 taps at the conch root of mythological importance, it is expected to contribute to the promotion of religious tourism in the area. Tourists visit areas like Simbhanjyang, Daman, Markhu and Chitlang during the summer. Thaha Municipality, which is also a center of religious faith along with its natural beauty, is becoming attractive for religious tourism.

The conch root at Pashupatinath and the Triveni conch root of Thaha Municipality are considered among the three most powerful conch roots in the world. According to religious leaders, its mythological significance is also mentioned in the 'Nepal Mahatmya Himawat Khand'. It is believed that one of the three major conch shells in the world is in Pashupatinath, the other in Thaha, and the third in India. Mayor Bista said that the conservation and promotion of the conch shell will make it easier to introduce it nationwide.

A huge conch shell, temple, park, homakunda, and tirthakunda are under construction in Moksha Dham. It is believed that the confluence of the Narayani River flowing north from Risheshwor and the river flowing east from Trivenighat is considered to be the conch shell Ganga.
