The District Administration Office, Kavre, issued a notice on Tuesday, informing that the highway will be closed for 12 hours daily from 5 pm to 5 am. Kavre Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari informed that the highway will be closed from Tuesday night until further notice.
More than a hundred vehicles were stranded when the BP Highway was blocked due to sudden floods on Monday night. Those vehicles have been temporarily diverted and sent towards Kathmandu today. Similarly, 89 people trapped in the floods were rescued on Monday night.
The Katunjebesi-Nepalthok road section of the BP Highway, which was damaged by the floods in the Roshi River in Asoj 2081 and is under reconstruction, is usually blocked during normal rains. Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari said that due to the possibility of flooding in the Roshi River during the rainy season, keeping in mind the safety of citizens traveling on the BP Highway, vehicles have been stopped on the road section in coordination with Sindhuli District.
