Security forces have closed the BP Highway due to the afternoon rain, keeping in mind the risk. The District Police Office Dhulikhel has closed the road section from Katunje in Namobuddha of Kavrepalanchok to Mangaltar of Roshi along the highway from 3:30 pm on Saturday.
The office's information officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Bista, informed that the road has been closed to prevent any potential risk due to heavy flooding in the Roshi River due to the rain. According to him, the public has been requested to travel only after understanding the condition of the highway and has also been appealed not to travel on that section until further notice is issued.
Due to the increase in water flow in the Roshi River due to the rain, the temporary diversion constructed earlier on the highway used to wash away. After last year's floods and landslides washed away 18 km of the road in the Roshi area of Ragmarg and Nepalthok area of Sindhuli, the diversion was being constructed and movement was being done. Similarly, in the third week of last Chaitra, a temporary diversion was constructed again after 4 km of various places in the same area were washed away.
Meanwhile, after the Rajmarga was blocked, vehicles are currently being held at the highway entrances at Kavrebhanjyang in Dhulikhel and Nepalthok in Sindhuli. After the floods and landslides in Asoj last year completely damaged the Chowkidanda-Nepalthok road section, temporary roads and diversions were constructed from the river to allow vehicles to operate. Currently, a permanent road is being constructed in the area, according to the Division Road Office, Bhaktapur.
