Service recipients from Hetauda, Makawanpur have been relieved from the hassle of having to go to the District Administration Office, Makawanpur to get their passports from Wednesday. The District Administration Office, Makawanpur has delivered the passports directly to their homes through postal service.

The Post Office, Makawanpur, today delivered the passports to the house of 22-year-old Nischal Manandhar near the Kapur Complex building in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-4. Halkara, the head of the Post Office and employees of the District Administration Office had reached the house to deliver the passports.

Upon receiving the passports in the courtyard of his house, Manandhar said, 'The government has started a good work, similar work should be done in other areas too.' The District Administration Office, Makawanpur has sent 50 passports to the Post Office on Wednesday to distribute the passports. 'We will deliver the passports sent to all households today,' said Post Office Chief Ramesh Lamichhan.

The Makawanpur Post Office has started this work in coordination with the District Administration Office, Hetauda, with the aim of implementing Point No. 27 of the state providing door-to-door service to the general public. This initiative, which was launched with the aim of saving time and labor of the service recipients, is expected to make the passport distribution process more convenient and effective.

According to Chief District Officer Basanta Adhikari, the service will be provided only within the Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City area in the initial phase. There is a plan to distribute about 500 passports that have not been collected from the office so far through the post office in the first phase.

The administration has set a goal of expanding this in the long term and providing citizenship, national identity cards and driving licenses at home in the future.

The post office has stated that although the service cannot be extended to other municipalities in the district due to resource and security concerns, it can be operated smoothly in the sub-metropolitan area. Post office chief Ramesh Lamichhane informed that arrangements will be made to deliver passports on the same day in nearby wards and by the evening of the next day in distant areas at the latest.

The government had announced the provision of 'door-to-door service' under the 100 governance reform program announced on Chaitra 13.

Lamichhane said that the capacity of the post office should be developed and expanded as the federal government is preparing to expand other services including citizenship, national identity card, driving license (license) along with passports and convert them into door-to-door service.

There are currently 46 employees working at the Makawanpur post office. Currently, there are 9 municipal post offices, 2 postal counters and one district office in the post office district. Currently, the office is distributing and transporting 100 letters daily, including government offices and foreign parcels.
