The Bagmati Province Health Directorate has given 54 points to the Manthali Hospital in Manthali, measuring the implementation of minimum service standards.

A team led by the directorate's medical officer, Dr. Madhav Poudel, conducted an on-site assessment on Friday and made the score public on Saturday.

In a program organized under the chairmanship of Manthali Municipality Mayor Love Shrestha, Dr. Poudel informed about the current condition of the hospital and said that the 54 points obtained in the first assessment should be taken positively. According to him, 20 percent weightage was assigned to good governance, 60 percent to medical services, and 20 percent to support services in the measurement.

He said that if the hospital can focus on small improvements, it can bring good results in the coming days. He suggests that effective implementation of good governance tools and improvement in service management are especially necessary.

Meanwhile, the hospital's internal assessment has seen a decline in the score in recent years. Hospital Chief Dr. According to Keshav Dhami, the score was 87 in the fiscal year 2079/080, 90.67 in 2080/081 and 89.47 in 2081/082, but it has dropped to 68 points in the current fiscal year 2082/083.

Keshav Raj Phuyal, Head of the Municipal Health Branch, expressed his commitment to make service delivery more effective with the cooperation of all stakeholders. Mayor Love Shrestha, stating that the Manthali Municipal Hospital is the pride of the city, expressed his commitment to improve the weaknesses seen in plan implementation and good governance and improve the service level in the coming days. Manthali Municipality has been operating the Manthali Primary Health Center as the 15-bed Manthali Municipal Hospital since Magh 27, 2078.

Manthali Hospital is currently providing more than 25 different services including 24-hour emergency service, post-mortem, maternity service with surgery, physiotherapy, eye and dental service, and lab service.
The hospital has been providing services to more than 250 people daily from Dolakha, Sindhuli, Okhaldhunga, and Solukhumbu districts, said the hospital's chief, Dr. Dhami. He said that services available through health insurance are also provided by Manthali Hospital.
