The District Administration Office, Makawanpur, has held the first phase of discussions with the Post Office to provide door-to-door service to service recipients to implement the 100 agendas related to governance reforms made public by the Government of Nepal.
The state has held coordination discussions with the Post Office with the aim of implementing point number 27 to provide door-to-door service to the general public. Chief District Officer Basanta Adhikari had discussed with Ramesh Lamichhane, Postal Officer of the District Post Office, Makawanpur, about the excessive and commercial use of the post office for door-to-door service.
Initially, the District Administration Office said that the post office is going to organize a system to deliver 500 passports to the homes of service recipients. For this, the District Administration Office took information about the current capacity and manpower of the Post Office, the required budget and resources, and also discussed the plan to provide door-to-door service along with the distribution of 91 government bodies in Makawanpur.
Post Office Officer Ramesh Lamichhane said that although it is not possible to work immediately in other municipalities of the district due to lack of resources and security sensitivity, door-to-door service can be provided within Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City from the beginning of the upcoming Baisakh.
Increasing the current pace, the Pradya Adhikari said that the service should be provided in offices within the Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City on the same day and in other municipalities by the next day. He said that the capacity of the post office should be developed and expanded as the federal government is preparing to expand other services including passports, citizenship, national identity cards, driving licenses and others to become door-to-door service.
Post Office Makawanpur currently has 46 employees. There are currently 9 municipal post offices, 2 post counters and one district office in the district. Currently, the office has been distributing and transporting 100 letters daily, including government offices and foreign parcels. The post office has also been coordinating the distribution of public welfare advertisements to the district's media.
