High alertness will be adopted in Kavre and Sindhupalchowk to prevent the risk of bird flu infection. Stakeholders have discussed this and suggested the administration to increase testing and surveillance and said that the possibility of bird flu entering the two districts is low.

The District Animal Service Office Dhulikhel has also decided to adopt high alertness to prevent the entry of bird flu infection in Kavre and Sindhupalchowk. After bird flu infection was detected in chickens raised in some places of the country, security measures are being tightened in these districts considering the possibility of risk.

Similarly, the office has decided to tighten surveillance at the border points in the two districts and regularly inspect poultry and other bird farms. Strict checks will be carried out especially at Mangaltar, the main entry point to Kavrepalanchowk from the Terai region. In addition, surveillance will be increased at the eastern exits of the capital, Sanga and Nala, and at the exits leading to Kavrepalanchowk and Sindhupalchowk from the Kathmandu Valley. Along with this, it has also been decided to conduct awareness and publicity programs about the risk of bird flu and its effects.

Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari said that testing will be strictly implemented by adding technical manpower at the Mangaltar checkpoint. According to him, arrangements will be made to immediately test chicken samples coming from the eastern region. Animal Husbandry Office Chief Bajrakishor Thakur said that the office is coordinating with other agencies to prevent the entry of bird flu.
