Narendra Bhandari, the chairman of the board of directors of the government-owned Hetauda Cement Industry, has resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies on Sunday.
Bhandari, who was appointed for a period of 3 years as per the decision of the cabinet meeting on 24 Jestha 2081, resigned citing the ‘changed political situation’ as the main reason.
In his resignation letter, Bhandari mentioned that he had continuously tried to strengthen the industry during his tenure. He claimed that he had succeeded in keeping the industry operational despite old machinery, technological limitations and extreme financial shortages and that the clinker production and sales process in the industry is currently being regularized.
Chairman Bhandari also expressed dissatisfaction with the ministry’s working style through his resignation letter. Despite repeated requests for loans and grants to manage the capital and current expenses required to make the industry competitive, he complained that the ministry had not provided concrete policy guidance and financial management.
