A son-in-law has died after being beaten by his brother-in-law during a minor domestic dispute in Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-4 of Ramechhap. The police have arrested the accused involved in the incident.

According to DSP Bholakumar Bhatta, Chief of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, Prem Bahadur Tamang (around 60 years old) was beaten up by his brother-in-law Bir Bahadur Tamang (around 60 years old) on Monday evening after he had come to his in-laws' house. The police reached the spot after receiving information that he had fainted after being beaten up.

However, by then, Tamang was found dead, DSP Bhatta said. Police searched for the brother-in-law, 60 years old, and arrested him from the Kharpani area of the same ward at around 7:45 am on Monday morning.

According to the police, the deceased had brought a basket with him from his in-laws. It is initially believed that he had a minor dispute with his brother-in-law and died due to injuries to sensitive areas during the beating.

Police have stated that no evidence of any weapon being used at the scene of the incident was found and there were no serious external injuries on the body of the deceased.

According to DSP Bhatta, in recent times, such incidents of duty-related deaths have often occurred due to momentary impulses without prior planning.

‘It seems that such tragic incidents are happening because the anger that arose over a small dispute cannot be controlled for some time,’ he said. The District Police Office, Ramechhap, has stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
