A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Helambu Rural Municipality and the Inland Revenue Office, Kavrepalanchok, on Monday with the aim of decentralizing service delivery and providing tax services from the local level.
According to Helambu Rural Municipality Chairperson Nima Gyaljen Sherma, with the agreement, services including Permanent Account Number (PAN) registration, tax payment, tax-related recommendations will now be available from Helambu Rural Municipality. He said that this is expected to eliminate the compulsion of local citizens and businessmen to travel far to get services.
The MoU handover program on Monday was attended by rural municipality Chairperson Nima Gyaljen Sherma, Chief Tax Officer Anmol Kumar Dahal, Chief Administrative Officer Beni Bahadur Moktan, Ward No. 1 Ward Chairperson Dawa Gyaljen Lama, and other public representatives, employees and stakeholders. 'In line with the spirit of federalism, the agreement has been signed with the aim of bringing services closer to the citizens. Now the compulsion of having to go to Dhulikhel to get tax-related services will end,' he said.
Chief Tax Officer Dahal stated that the work of providing revenue services from the local level has been taken forward as per the service simplification policy and this collaboration will make the tax system more accessible. Similarly, Chief Administrative Officer Moktan expressed his commitment to provide speedy services to the citizens by making the service delivery technology-friendly, transparent and effective.
