The BP Highway has been blocked since this morning after the river water flow increased in the Roshi area of Kavrepalanchok due to incessant rains.
A temporary road was built in the river after the highway was damaged by floods and landslides in the area last year. The road was blocked in Charsayabesi, Gimdi, Baunne and Kaldhunga of Roshi Rural Municipality at 3:30 this morning, informed District Traffic Office Chief Sunil Dhanju. According to him, since the road was previously opened from the river, it seems that the road can be opened only after the water flow decreases.
However, he said that efforts have been started through the Road Department in coordination with security personnel to open the road.
Meanwhile, the traffic police have 'held' vehicles since this morning after the road was blocked in various places in the Roshi area of BP Highway due to rains. Dhanju said that vehicles have been held at the entrances to the highway at Kavrebhanjyang and Bhakunde in Dhulikhel and Nepalthok and Mangaltar, which enter the capital from the east.
