The electricity service has been disrupted across Ramechhap district due to heavy rain and lightning on Monday evening. The electricity service, which was disrupted since around 6 pm on Monday evening, has not been operational till Tuesday morning.
Residents of Manthali have said that this is the first time such a strong wind has occurred since 2072 BS. The Nepal Electricity Authority Ramechhap Distribution Center has stated that the electricity supply has been disrupted across the district after both the 33 kV transmission lines coming from Khimti and Sindhuli to the Manthali substation were disrupted due to the wind.
The information issued by the distribution center states that problems have occurred in the power lines at various places due to wind, rain and lightning. Currently, the employees of the authority are deployed in the field to find possible faults and efforts are being made to restore the electricity service as soon as possible, the center stated.
According to the authority, trees and branches may have fallen on the line due to the wind, foreign objects may have flown and got stuck in the wire, the wire may have broken or the pole may have collapsed, so operating the line without a complete inspection can be risky.
Similarly, if there is a suspicion that someone's meter or wiring has been damaged due to lightning, the Nepal Electricity Authority Ramechhap Distribution Center has urged consumers to immediately turn off the main switch and stay safe.
