Half-cylinder gas distribution has also started in the Ramechhap market. Consumers who were buying full cylinders of gas until Friday have been forced to limit themselves to half cylinders since Saturday, and that too at a high price.

Nepal Oil Corporation has been claiming that there has been no problem in the import so far. Locals say that after the corporation implemented the half-cylinder distribution system from Friday to make the sale and distribution of gas easier, it has become more expensive than buying the whole one.

Govinda Hayu of Manthali said that although there has been no queue for gas at Manthali market so far, consumers have not been able to get the gas as per their demand.  Lekh Bahadur BK of Ramechhap Municipality-8 says that even though the arrangement of half-cylinder gas has added more financial burden and suffering to consumers than solving the problem.

He said, 'Now only half-cylinder gas is available in the market. This has made it more expensive and has added to the suffering of consumers.'

Raju Thapa, a businessman from Manthali, claims that there is no problem in gas supply in Ramechhap. According to him, gas is easily available in the market. He said, 'There is no shortage of gas in Ramechhap. The Oil Corporation is providing gas in sufficient quantity. It seems that the half-cylinder system has been implemented by spreading the illusion that there is a shortage of fuel and gas now.'

According to Thapa, although it is normal to have two gas cylinders in each house, some consumers stock up on up to five cylinders, creating a problem that appears to be a shortage in the market.

According to the Oil Corporation's decision, a half-cylinder of 7.1 kg is now being sold for Rs 1,100, he said. According to him, 'Earlier, a full cylinder of gas was available for Rs 2,000. Now, a half cylinder costs Rs 1,100, so it is a bit more expensive for consumers compared to the old price.'

Thapa said that gas sales have increased recently. According to him, he has now sold about 600 more cylinders of gas compared to the previous month.
