The Provincial Administrative Restructuring Review Study and Suggestion Committee, in its report submitted to the provincial government on Wednesday, has suggested maintaining 8 ministries and cutting 701 staff posts.
It has also been proposed to strengthen the administrative structure by cutting staff posts. According to the committee, the financial liability of more than 16 billion rupees will be added to the 35-year service period from the posts created at each level, so restructuring the administrative structure is necessary.
The meeting of the High-Level Steering Committee for Administrative Restructuring held on Kartik 11 had formed an expert team of former secretaries of the Government of Nepal. The same team studied and submitted a report with suggestions to the government.
Committee coordinator and former secretary Bimal Wagle informed that the report was prepared based on the number of ministries required for administrative restructuring, determination of the needs of offices under the ministry, as well as a survey of the new organization and management of employees. The committee has suggested establishing a ministerial structure including the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, the Ministry of Industry, Culture, Tourism and Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land Management and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development.
