A passenger bus has reached Urmakhu in Umakunda Rural Municipality-5, Preeti, a Himalayan municipality in the district. After the bus reached the village for the first time, the locals expressed their happiness and worshipped the bus according to Tamang customs and gave a grand welcome to the driver, co-driver and people's representatives.

Earlier, the bus service reached only up to Naspatighari in Umakunda-5. Now, the bus service has been extended to Urmakhu via Bahundanda and Jidu. After the bus reached Urmakhu, the locals thanked the people's representatives and demanded that the road be systematically blacktopped. Kul Bahadur Basnet, Ward Chairman of Umakunda Rural Municipality-5, said that the operation of bus service in Urmakhu, which is dominated by the Tamang community, has brought great relief to the locals. According to him, earlier, the villagers were forced to walk for an hour to board the bus.

Ward Chairman Basnet said, 'Now, the situation of Urmakhu residents having to walk long distances to board the bus as before has come to an end. After much struggle due to geographical complexity, we have been able to operate bus services in the village, which is a matter of joy for all of us.'

According to him, it has been possible to extend the bus service to Urmakhu with the initiative, support and coordination of ward members Som Bahadur Tamang and Nakul Tamang. He also informed that preparations are now underway to operate regular bus services on this route. Once the bus reaches the village, locals expect that there will be great ease in commuting, reaching the market, transporting patients and carrying out daily necessities.
