The construction of a basic hospital building has been completed in a remote village in Makawanpur. The BP Smriti Kailash Basic Hospital building built in Kalikatar, Kailash Rural Municipality-3, was inaugurated by Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya during a ceremony on Wednesday.

The two-and-a-half-storey hospital, built at a cost of Rs 65.899 million from the federal government, has 10 beds. There are 22 positions, including 2 doctors. The hospital has 5 staff nurses, 2 nurses, 3 health assistants, 2 AHEBs, 1 Kaviraj, 1 lab technician, 1 radiographer, 1 pharmacy assistant, 1 dental hygienist, 1 nose assistant, 2 office assistants, 1 sanitation worker and 1 security personnel. A public notice has been issued for filling the posts as per the positions. Tilak Prasad Gautam, head of the health department, said that only the health facilities provided by the health post are being provided from the building at present.

He said that after the vacancies are filled, the hospital will provide emergency services, including gynecology, pediatrics, dentistry, skin diseases, Ayurveda, eye examination, laboratory, video X-ray, ECG, etc. Kailash Rural Municipality, with a population of 21,856, is located 45 kilometers from Hetauda, ​​the district headquarters of Makawanpur.

After the establishment of the hospital, all 10 wards of Kailash Rural Municipality and residents of wards 4 and 9 of Raksirang Rural Municipality will benefit, said Health Branch Chief Gautam. 

The chief of the District Coordination Committee Makawanpur, Lalit Ghalan, the vice-chairman of the rural municipality, Bal Kumar Malla Thakuri, the chief of the District Public Health Office Makawanpur, Kiran Shrestha, and the ward chair Rajendra Ghising, among others, spoke at the building inauguration program. The land donors and building construction entrepreneurs were honored at the program.
