Seven people injured in the accident have been sent to Kathmandu by army helicopter for treatment.
A vehicle carrying election materials, staff and security personnel has killed two people, including a polling officer, and injured seven others in Ramechhap.
The vehicle carrying ballot papers and election materials from the Chief Election Officer's Office Manthali to the Shitala Devi Secondary School in Siruwari, Ramechhap Municipality-2, and the ward office building in Ward No. 3, Sanghutar, lost control while reversing and fell about 100 meters off the road.
Dor Prasad Ghimire, 57, of Bhainseshwor, Manthali Municipality-1, who was posted as a polling officer at the 'Kha' polling station in Sanghutar, Ramechhap Municipality-3, died at 6:45 pm on Monday while undergoing treatment at Manthali Hospital, according to the District Police Office, Ramechhap. Similarly, Assistant Police Inspector Parashuram Yadav, a resident of Rubani Rural Municipality-1, Saptari and working at the District Police Office, Ramechhap, has also died.
Seven people, including three women and four men, who were injured in the accident, have been sent to Kathmandu by a Nepal Army helicopter for further treatment, said Rajan Prasad Timsina, Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Ramechhap.
According to him, the accident occurred on Monday afternoon on the inner road section of Siruwari, Ramechhap Municipality-2. Five people were seriously injured in the accident, while two others sustained minor injuries. The seriously injured include Krishna Prasad Ghimire, aged around 50-55, who was posted as a polling officer at polling station A in Siruwari, 35-year-old Pooja Devi Sunuwar, the driver Shambhu Bahadur Manandhar, aged 47, of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-4, Durga Karki, aged 35, of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-5, Bhim Bahadur Manandhar, aged 39, of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-4, and Kedar Kumar Rokka, aged 39, of Kathjor, Manthali Municipality-3.
Similarly, 27-year-old Sabina Khadka of Ramechhap Municipality-2 and 35-year-old Kamala Dhungel Khatri of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-2 have sustained minor injuries. Police have said that all the injured are undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital in Kathmandu.
