Press Chautari Nepal Ramechhap has announced the Pushpalal Memorial National Journalism Award.

The award was formally announced at the Foundation Day and Award Distribution Program organized on Saturday at the headquarters of Press Chautari Nepal on the occasion of its 28th Foundation Day. At the program, former central member of Press Chautari Nepal and central member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Nawaraj Pathik, announced the award and informed about its purpose and importance. According to him, the award was established with the financial support of UML Bagmati Province Committee member Ratna Prasad Gautam. Gautam has committed to providing a total of five hundred thousand rupees for five years at the rate of one hundred thousand rupees per year. Speaking at the program, General Secretary of Press Chautari Nepal Hiraman Lama expressed his belief that the Pushpalal Memorial National Journalism Award will enhance the dignity of journalism and provide further professional inspiration to the new generation of journalists. He said that this award will be important in remembering Pushpalal's thoughts, contributions and struggles and further strengthening the role of journalism in social transformation.

According to Lekh Bahadur BK, Chairman of Press Chautari Ramechhap, the award will be presented every year on Shrawan 7, on the occasion of the memorial day of Pushpalal Shrestha, the founding general secretary of the Nepal Communist Party. Chairman BK said that the award was established with the aim of honoring journalists who have contributed through journalism to democracy, social justice and change. 

Shrestha was born on Asad 15, 1981 BS in Bhangeri, Ramechhap. Press Chautari has stated that this national-level journalism award will be presented every year on his memorial day.
