The police have intervened in the Durga Prasai program after it started holding the program at a different location than the designated one.
After Prasai started holding a program at Chaubiskothi Chowk in Bharatpur, the police tried to remove it, creating a tense situation between the police and the Prasai faction. In the process, the police arrested three Prasai cadres, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabindra Khanal, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Chitwan.
‘The police tried to remove it after it started holding a program at a place other than the one approved by the administration, and we have taken three people under control,’ said Deputy Superintendent of Police Khanal.
The administration had allowed Durga Prasai to hold a program at a corner of the Central Bus Terminal Chowk. However, after the Prasai faction demanded that they hold the program at Bus Park Chowk only after circumambulating Chaubiskothi Chowk, the police had also granted permission for the Chaubiskothi Parikram. But the police removed it after they started holding the program at the same place without circumambulating Chaubiskothi Chowk.
Speaking earlier, Prasai had said that there would be no elections until the monarchy was established. They took out a rally from Bus Park to Chaubiskothi Chowk.
