The District Administration Office, Chitwan has arranged free buses for devotees going to take bath at the holy Devghat on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti. The administration has stated that the free buses have been arranged in collaboration with the PABSON district to facilitate the movement of devotees.

Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said that 10 buses have been arranged to travel from Aanpatari to Devghat. ‘Direct travel from Aanpatari to Devghat has been stopped,’ he said, ‘That route is used only when returning, we have arranged buses so that people who come to bathe do not have to face the inconvenience.’ According to him, buses will operate from both directions from 6:30 am on Thursday. The route has been determined so that one-way return from Aanpatari to Devghat can be done on the road. If you are going to Devghat by your own vehicle, you will have to go via Ramnagar.

The Maghe Sankranti fair has started from Wednesday with the installation of a bamboo lingo at the Beni of Devghat, the confluence of Chitwan, Tanahun and Nawalparasi. It is estimated that 3 lakh visitors will come to Devghat this year. The district administration has tightened security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident at the fair. Teams from the Nepal Army, Armed Forces and Nepal Police have been deployed for rescue in the river.

The Devghat Area Development Committee has declared Devghat a plastic-free zone and has appealed not to bring plastic bags.
