Manthali Municipality of Ramechhap has spent only 19.63 percent of its total budget in about six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83.

According to the progress report presented by Mayor Lav Shrestha at the 18th session of the Municipal Assembly held on Friday, the current expenditure has reached 26.32 percent, while the capital expenditure is only 4.8 percent.

The municipality had approved a budget of Rs 1.465 billion through the local consolidated fund management system. Mayor Shrestha said that the capital expenditure was low due to limited resources, procedural complexity, and delays in the plan to operate through contracts and consumer committees.

At the winter session, the mayor made public the achievements of the current fiscal year and said that gradual improvements are being made in good governance, service delivery and infrastructure development. He said that online revenue collection has been started from all ward offices, fiber internet connection, public hearings, token system and information flow have been made effective.

He said that out of the target of Rs 42.3 million set for internal revenue collection in the current fiscal year, Rs 19.275 million or 45 percent has been earned so far. He also said that an action plan is being prepared with an estimate of collecting more than 55 million 91 thousand rupees in revenue for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84.

Mayor Shrestha said that out of 398 plans and infrastructure projects, 160 have been agreed upon through the user committee, 45 of them have been paid and 10 are in the payment phase. He said that the projects in the contract process have also gradually reached the implementation phase.

Expressing his commitment to intensify capital expenditure and work in the areas of infrastructure, health, education, agriculture and employment in the remaining period, Mayor Shrestha said that cooperation from all parties is necessary to achieve the city's long-term vision of 'an educated, healthy and professional city: a resilient and prosperous monthly city'.
