8 absconding individuals arrested in banking and cheque dishonor cases

What you should know

Eight people who were absconding after being convicted by the court in banking crimes and check dishonor cases have been arrested in the past two days.

Three of the eight absconding defendants arrested on Thursday and Friday are women.  

Police have arrested Sarita Ghalan, 44, of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-13, who was sentenced to 15 days in prison and a fine of Rs 145,000 by the District Court of Makawanpur in a banking offence case. Police have arrested Prabha Rai, of Hetauda-5, who was sentenced to 7 days in prison and a fine of Rs 1.5 million by the District Court in a cheque dishonour case.  

Police have arrested Anmol Darnal, 28, of Hetauda-9, who was sentenced to 1 month and 10 days in prison and a fine of Rs 4.463 million by the District Court in a banking offence case. Darnal had been absconding for nine months after the court's verdict.

Police have arrested Rabindra Ghimire, of Hetauda-2, on a cheque dishonour charge. Police have also arrested Krishna Kumari Regmi, Govinda Bartaula and Yuddha Bahadur Thapa of Hetauda-3, who were fined Rs 3,000 each in the cheque dishonour case.

The four arrested were arrested while they were living in the village, said DSP Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson of the Makawanpur District Police. Krishna Bahadur Lama of Hetauda-3, who had been absconding for eight months after the Makawanpur court imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 in the vehicular homicide case, was also arrested by the police.

DSP Bogati said that till this period of Poush, the police have arrested 28 absconding accused and produced them in court. Makawanpur police have arrested 53 absconding accused from last Shrawan to Poush 25 and produced them in court.
