Chitwan police have arrested two people who were transporting marijuana on a motorcycle.
Chitwan Police Spokesperson DSP Ravindra Khanal informed that 33-year-old Bir Bahadur Tamang and 31-year-old Hiralal Tamang of Dumrekhandi were arrested from Korak, Rapti Municipality-11, a hilly area on the Bhandara-Malekhu road, at around 1 am last night.
When two people who came forward on a motorcycle and asked if there was any problem on the road were questioned, the police said that they fled and took control of two motorcycles carrying marijuana behind them. Police Inspector Rupesh Bista, who was deployed to make the arrests, said that 124 kg of marijuana was recovered from two motorcycles.
DSP Khanal informed that Chitwan Police has been conducting 'Operation Delta' against drugs since November 1. DSP Khanal said that as of December 20, 31 kg of marijuana, nine grams of hashish, 202 grams of heroin, 5,128 capsules of tramadol, 131 ampoules of diazepam, and 131 ampoules of phenargon and nurphine have been seized. He informed that 81 people, including 3 women, have been taken under control in these incidents.
