Mother-in-law and Nanda have been arrested on charges of murdering their daughter-in-law by dousing her with gasoline and setting her on fire.

The District Police Office issued a press release today, saying that 59-year-old mother-in-law Mayarani Bamjan and 35-year-old Nanda Mina Lama have been arrested on charges of murdering 32-year-old Sushila Bamjan of Kamalamai Municipality-4, Dhuraphant.

The accused duo had doused the body of their daughter-in-law Sushila with petrol and set her on fire last Sunday. The deceased's husband has been working abroad for the past two years.

The police have recovered the burnt body from the spot, while the deceased's father-in-law Durgaman is injured. He has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment. The accused has been remanded in custody after receiving a summons from the District Court.

Locals have surrounded the District Police Office demanding a fair investigation into the incident and strict action against the culprits.
