A crowd of devotees has gathered at the Dupcheshwor Mahadev Temple here, which holds historical and religious significance, for the fair held on the occasion of Dhanya Purnima.
The fair, which started from Mokshada Ekadashi, will be held exclusively until tomorrow's full moon, informed the temple priest Bhagwan Hari Dhital. According to him, since Chaturdashi and Full Moon fall on the same day this year, the main rush for darshan has started from today.
It is estimated that more than 15,000 devotees visited the temple from this morning to 5 pm. This number will be even higher on the Full Moon day tomorrow, according to the Dupcheshwor Area Development Fund.
Local Rajkumar Shrestha says that handicrafts such as thunse, doka, bhakari, nanglo made from bamboo and reeds will be traded at the fair. The traditional Dhupi for washing cows and buffaloes and the trade in other agricultural products, including Samundrafini rice produced in the Shikhar Besi region, are considered the main attractions of the fair.
