A male rhinoceros that had been disturbing locals by entering a settlement from the Chitwan National Park area has been internally relocated.
The rhino was relocated from the Ghailaghari area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-23. According to Abinash Thapa Magar, the park's information officer, the approximately 25-year-old male rhino has been relocated to the Kumroj Community Forest Area of Sauraha Sector. He said that the rhino was relocated for the safety of the citizens as it tends to enter settlements and damage crops and only wants to live outside. He said that the relocation had to be done because the risk of entering communities and causing harm to humans has increased.
Stating that the rhino was relocated by 'darting', Magar, the information officer, said that the park has been internally relocating rhinos that have been terrorizing locals by entering settlements in the past. According to him, in the past years, the number of rhinos in the western part of the park has increased, so it has been being relocated internally for internal management.
