A bailey bridge is to be installed at Khairenighat-Dumja, directly connecting West Ramechhap to the BP Highway.

The severe flood in Sunkoshi in the second week of Asoj last year completely washed away the concrete bridge here. Due to which, especially the residents of Sunapati, Doramba Sailung and Khandadevi rural municipalities have been facing problems in commuting to and from the capital Kathmandu. Now, with the progress of the process of installing the bailey bridge, there is hope that this important transport route, which has been blocked for a long time, will be reopened.

According to Ram Kumar Shrestha, Ward Chairman of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-1 Rakathum, the necessary parts for installing the bailey bridge on the Khairenighat-Dumja bridge that was washed away by the flood have started arriving. According to him, the parts of the bailey bridge have arrived at the construction site from Hetauda in 4 vehicles till Wednesday.

After the bridge was washed away, the locals had been demanding the reconstruction of the bridge for a long time. He informed that now that the materials have reached the site, other infrastructure preparations will also move forward.

After the bridge is installed, Khandadevi-1 Rakathum and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1 of Sindhuli will be directly connected. The Road Division Office, Khurkot, has stated that the work of bringing the necessary parts for the installation of the bailey bridge on the 68-meter-long Khairenighat-Dumja bridge that was washed away by the flood has begun.
